Insurance Underwriter - Real Estate Investor P&C - Virginia Beach, VA

Insurance Underwriter Underwriting Commercial Lines Habitational Real Estate Operators & Investors Risks, Apartment Buildings, Condominiums, Planned Communities Rental Homes Mortgage Banks Rental Property Investors Apartment Complexes Condominiums Casualty Excess Surplus Reinsurance General Liability _ .

Ensure a profitable book of Habitational Real Estate property insurance business by appropriately evaluating the acceptability of risks within delegated authority levels and managing agency relationships.

Responsibilities:

*** Manage a book of business by analyzing a portfolio; identifying areas of opportunity for improved growth, profit, and diversification; and executing marketing plans to increase market share with preferred brokers.

*** Evaluate businesses applying for insurance by qualifying accounts such as Habitational Real Estate Operators & Investors Risks -- Apartment Buildings, Condominiums, Planned Communities, and other Commercially Managed Habitational Property businesses.

*** Identify, select, and assess risks to determine premium, policy terms, and conditions.

*** Recommend quality exceptions where appropriate to maximize profitability and meet business plans.

*** Create and present proposals to agents or brokers, obtain approval, and successfully negotiate deals.

*** Develop and maintain successful relationships with Agents and Brokers by providing stewardship with service partners, including initial setup of service commitments.

*** Support marketing activities to agents.

*** Mentor junior underwriters in both technical and professional skills.
