purpose and functions of the position.The Solution Architect II -
Core Merchandise serves as the primary liaison between IT and
Merchandising departments, for both Dollar Tree and Family Dollar.
Core Merchandise serves as the backbone of the architecture,
empowering all other solutions. This role is critical in
determining the key data drivers to all other systems. The Solution
Architect is responsible for designing, describing, and maintaining
the solution engineering concerning the solutions in and related to
Merchandising. They lead the team in making key, enterprise &
solution-level decisions and the evaluation of their impact to
business objectives and outcomes, focusing on the tradeoffs that
impact existing processes. The architect helps develop solutions
for business issues, problems, and process change. This role must
be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management
both within and outside of the IT department.Principal Duties and
Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of
importanceServe as leader of the Architecture of all Core
Merchandising. Including Master Data Management, PIM, Cost
Management, Purchasing/Order Management, Financial Management (with
respect to Inventory Management, Taxation), Invoice
ReconciliationConducts an analysis of the system architecture and
collaborates with stakeholders on how to improve itHandle
architectural problems in order to achieve more productive and
successful resultsCommunicate project's/initiative's vision and
participate in endeavors for future improvementsAnalyze the impact
of various business & technical decisions to processes,
applications & overall architectureCollaborate with business
leaders to identify and prioritize technology initiativesDefine
technology roadmaps that align to long term business objectives for
the companyLead and mentor team of Project Managers, developers and
Business AnalystsWork with Solution Directors to create and manage
annual IT capital budgets for the Merchandising domainProvide
regular status and risk reporting to IT and business senior
leadershipDefine and ensure adherence to project management
processes, templates, standardsResearch new technologies
continuously and offer suggestions/adjustments to the present
architecturePerform project and non-project related tasks and
activities to support the department's goals and objectivesDevelop
partnerships with the following key stakeholdersExecutive sponsors
to document scope and approve project chartersInternal and external
development resources to ensure solutions meet requirementsIT
networking, engineering and security to maintain compliance with
corporate standardsQA to define testing strategy and execute
regression and user acceptance testingTraining to define training
strategy, develop materials and deliver trainingInternal Audit to
ensure project controls and SDLC processes are followedIT
Operations to ensure a successful transition to supportOccasionally
serve as primary project lead on strategic initiativesDetermine
appropriate project structure, work streams and team lead(s)Develop
and maintain project plans with detailed tasks, activities,
deliverables and timelinesManage and evaluate project resource
requirementsContinuously assess and re-evaluate project priorities;
develop contingency plansFacilitate project schedules and
meetingsDocument project decisions, action items, issues and
risksMaintain project document repositoriesServe as primary liaison
with external vendorsMaintain, manage and report on project
financial budgets, actuals and forecasts.Prepare project status
reports and steering committee presentationsMinimum
Requirements/Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and
education required.15 years of related work experience, with 3+
years of project leadership experience as a design lead or project
managerExperience managing complex technology projectsExperience
with all aspect of the system implementation including, but not
limited to, gathering requirements, designing the future state
solution, testing, change management, and post implementation
support15 years in Retail experience15 years in Merchandising
technology experience:Core merchandising software applications:
MDM, Order Management, Invoice Reconciliation, Inventory Management
& ValuationVendor Portal softwareOMS softwarePrice and markdown
optimization softwarePIM, PLM, & compliance softwareDigital
technology (DAM, eCommerce)Reporting/Analytics softwareExperience
in PL/SQL, Oracle, Showcase Query, DB2, Python, Machine Learning
libraries, digital/ecommerce technologiesAdvanced oral and written
communication skillsStrong facilitation skillsTeam player with
excellent collaboration skillsStrong configuration experience,
ability to determine when to use configuration vs. codeAdvanced
troubleshooting skillsHigh attention to detailSelf-starter with

Qualifications - Desired but not required.Bachelors in business,
engineering, computer science, MIS or other four-year related
