Job Summary
The Advancement Communications Specialist serves as a
communications liaison for the University Advancement department
and supports the mission of University Advancement by coordinating
and managing constituent communications and marketing projects.
This includes leveraging multichannel solutions and institutional
messaging to develop fundraising collateral; delivering
comprehensive alumni, parent, and current/prospective donor
communications to strengthen constituent engagement; conducting
effective solicitation and engagement campaigns; and promoting
special events and initiatives. Essential duties include:
- Actively participate in strategy and creative meetings to
brainstorm messaging, campaigns, programs, marketing concepts, and
the effective use of media channels to achieve University
Advancement objectives and deliver results.
- Collaborate with Director of Advancement Services to develop
and maintain communications and scheduling; regularly communicate
plans and updates to all stakeholders; and oversee and ensure
timely completion of all Advancement communications
activities.
- Use creative skills and research to write and edit compelling
communication and fundraising materials in all media to support the
University's fundraising priorities.
- Facilitate communication and effort integration between
University Advancement, University Marketing, Public Relations, and
the Regent community.
- Coordinate and oversee the workflow of University Advancement
communications projects by facilitating and ensuring timely
preparation, production, and delivery.
- Collaborate with department colleagues to design and execute
innovative strategies for attracting and maintaining a vibrant,
highly engaged social media community of alumni, volunteers,
donors, and prospects across all relevant social media
platforms.
- Play an active role in developing high-touch approaches to
engaging and stewarding new and existing leadership donors.
- Produce regular reports tracking online, print, and social
media results.
- Develop and maintain a system for tracking inventory of
premiums, stationary, collateral materials, videos, and
photos.
- Maintain an archive of all marketing projects, files and
associated materials for historical tracking and reference.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Communications, Marketing
or Business preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong
and proven relationship skills
- Experience with creating and managing content for social media
platforms
- Experience in coordination and/or management of market projects
and the marketing project lifecycle
- Experience developing and evaluating marketing concepts and
content
- Ability to establish and maintain effective team relationships
and work collaboratively with other professionals to enhance the
creative process
- Experience negotiating and managing vendor relationships and
contracts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience
with Adobe software (specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and
Premiere)
- Experience in creating and publishing video content and
experience with content management systems preferred
