JOB DEFINITION

General construction laborers must have physical strength, hand-eye coordination and endurance. Laborers must also be able to concentrate on their tasks. Assist Foreman and skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties under close supervision

TYPICAL DUTIES

+ Digging, spreading and leveling dirt, sand and gravel using a pick shovel or rake

+ Installs, removes, and maintains a variety of erosion control products and liner. Clearing seditment

+ Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools and supplies

+ Clean tools, equipment, material in work area

+ Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials using hand tools

+ Provides a variety of routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench and assembling sections of pipe

+ Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jackhammering and assisting in the fusing of pipe.

+ Work harmoniously, co-operatively and courteously with others at all times

+ Perform miscellaneous other duties and responsibilities as required

+ Provides traffic control when necessary

+ Loads, transports and unloads tools, equipment and supplies.

+ Operates manual material handling equipment such as hand jacks and wheeled carts

+ Lift and carry merchandises as needed

+ Assists in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces.

+ Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities with tools and equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

+ At least 1 year of heavy highway/civil experience working in a construction setting

+ Follow specific directions

+ Perform a variety of duties which may change often

+ Ability to work outside in the Florida heat

+ Work within standards of accuracy

+ Repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures and evaluate information using measurable standards

+ Stand or walk for long periods

+ Use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects

+ Carry tools and equipment, stoop, kneel and crouch

+ See and hear well (either naturally or with correction)

+ Follow set procedures and standards.

Applicant must be able to pass drug test, government employment verification and be a US Citizen. Saturdays are required periodically as needed.
