Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Candidates must possess a high school diploma, GED or industrial school certificate, a willingness to travel and a minimum of seven (7) years of practical shipboard experience with HM&E systems and equipment. Necessary skills, training and certifications include: ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with shipboard electronic and electrical system and equipment, understand and interpret electrical schematics and installation drawings, and possess NAVSEA cableway and connectorization certifications. Technical expertise with, power generation and transmission equipment, motorized valve actuators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), fiber optics and integrated network system experience is preferred. Experience in constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment and troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions. Follows specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment. Familiarity with conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement; selects, sets up, and operates standard test equipment and records test data. Extracts and compiles a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc.; processes data, identifying errors or inconsistencies; selects methods of data presentation. Requirements include:Will read, interpret, and understand simple schematics and blueprintsRepair and replace cables and connectorsWork involves participating in the installation, maintenance of AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting and alarm circuits.Troubleshoot, repair and install electronic and electronic equipment and cables.Applicant must be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation. Must have or have the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance and must be able to obtain DBIDS and be able to access local shipyards and US Navy basesMust possess basic hand toolsCandidate must be able to walk, stand for long periods of time, sit, bend, stretch, reach, squat and twistMust be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.May ride ships at sea for extended periods.May require wearing a respirator.Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United StatesRequired Experience:Preferred Certified in Multi-pin Connectors IAW MIL-STD-20035A (SA)Preferred Certified in Fiber Optic: CFOS/O, CFOS/C, CFOS/S, CFOS/T, CFOS/FCMinimum of 7 years' experience as a marine electrician with 3 or more years of previous supervisory responsibilities.Experience with maintaining budgets and material Responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical systems of ferries, dredges, and military vessels.Must be familiar with NAVSEA Standard Item requirementsCurrently certified to accomplish wire way inspections in accordance with NAVSEA Standard Items.Microsoft Office knowledge is a plus.Identify and make recommendation to shop superintendent regarding problem areas in contract work items.Overhaul A.C. & D.C systems.
