Progeny Systems is seeking a Program Manager to work out of Progeny Systems Virginia Beach, VA location but other offices are open for consideration. Candidate will work on a fast-paced, integrated product development team building a nascent mission planning software suite for different customers. The work involves program management activities supporting multiple US Navy program offices, subcontractors as well as Progeny engineers.

Overall, the Program Manager will lead, plan, execute and finalize projects according to established deadlines and deliverables. The Program Manager will direct activities of the project, works directly with project resources on tasking, monitor project status, assist in resolution of project issues and create related project documentation. The Program Manager is responsible for coordinating the efforts of team members in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of the program.
  • Interface with technical and support staff and provide ongoing direction in the performance of the assigned program.
  • Develop and monitor program plan including time and cost estimates.
  • Ensures project outputs are delivered on schedule and within budget.
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to program plan and schedule, identify program problems, and offer solutions, such as allocation of resources.
  • Prioritize workload and determine staffing levels and any adjustments in staffing along with other team stakeholders
  • Work with functional management to maintain a staffing level to ensure technical quality and appropriate experience levels are consistent with current and projected program activities.
  • Generate and review reports and briefings along with staff for quality and compliance to contract requirements.
  • Lead discussions for program reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver formal briefings.
  • Serve as an interface with customers and subcontractors.
  • Comply with quality assurance and security procedures in the performance of duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership and program management experience as evidenced by previous experience
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Understanding of Navy mission planning efforts, ideally in surface and air domains
  • Experience leading development and production efforts for high technical complexity, high reliability critical mission systems
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors of Science degree and at least 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.

Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions:

  • Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
  • General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
  • Effectively communicate with others
  • Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
  • Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
