general nature and purpose of the job. Overall accountabilities are
defined in this section. As a Freight Claims & Freight Analyst ,
you will be responsible for identifying, investigating, and filing
all international freight claims related to carrier liability in a
timely and accurate manner. In this role, you will manage the full
lifecycle of freight claims, including documentation, communication
with carriers and internal teams, and recovery of costs. You will
analyze freight issues, track and report claim status, and support
continuous improvement across international transportation
processes. With strong attention to detail and a data-driven
mindset, you will help protect Smithfield’s financial interests
while supporting high-quality service levels across our global
supply chain. WHAT YOU’LL DO: The below statements are intended to
describe the general nature and level of work being performed by
people assigned to this job. They are not intended to be an

assigned. Claims Management: Compile, document, and submit formal
freight claims to carriers within required timeframes; track,
investigate, and escalate aging claims as needed. Financial
Processing: Post financial entries, apply payments in SAP, and
maintain accurate claim administration records. Reporting &
Analysis: Prepare and distribute reports on freight claim aging,
carrier performance, and third-party facility performance. Carrier
& Partner Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for
carriers to resolve claim negotiations through settlement or
escalation. Invoice Monitoring: Monitor aging freight invoices,
identify discrepancies, and escalate issues when necessary.
Industry Knowledge & Compliance: Maintain industry knowledge
through relevant organizations and complete required Claims
Certification within two years. Support & Additional Duties:
Provide ad hoc support to the Freight Settlement team and assist
leadership with special projects as assigned. WHAT WE’RE SEEKING:

Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college
or university in Accounting, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related
field and 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience, required. Technical
Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and
Word. Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Strong decision-making
abilities with a proactive, solution-oriented approach. Attention
to Detail: Demonstrates exceptional accuracy, organization, and
thoroughness in all work. Communication Skills: Excellent written
and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and
explain complex information clearly. Professionalism & Work Ethic:
Strong self-motivation, integrity, and professionalism with the
ability to drive change where needed. Collaboration & Culture:
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
while being respectful, approachable, and team-oriented. Business
Acumen: Solid understanding of financial and business principles.
