Job Description:
The Human Resources Generalist responsible for providing a
comprehensive range of complex human resource services in all
functional areas of human resources management including but not
limited to recruitment and selection; counseling employees and
People Leaders to facilitate the resolution of work-related
problems, disputes, and employee grievances; classification and
compensation; conducting training; policy development and
interpretation; benefits administration and payroll liaison.
The Human Resources Generalist must maintain the ability to perform
the functions of this position while utilizing the utmost in
diplomacy, confidentiality, professionalism, and tact.The main
purpose of the role is to deliver outstanding HR support to the
organization by supporting the delivery of key strategic projects
and HR operational activities covering the entire employment life
cycle.
In collaboration with a cross-functional HR team, you will have the
opportunity to contribute to the development of our HR onboarding,
policies, programs, projects, and processes. You will receive

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the
following:
- Partners with people leaders and employees to improve work
relationships, build morale, increase retention, and foster a
positive environment.
- Employee Relations: Assist Director of Human Resources with
employee relations issues, performance improvement plans (PIPs).
Coach People Leaders on best practices, how to have difficult
conversations, and proper documentation.
- Talent Acquisition: Participate in community events and job
fairs promoting Clark Nexsen career opportunities. Partner with
local organizations and colleges/universities to strengthen
candidate pool, educate about Virginia Housing, and promote career
opportunities.
- Facilitate the 30-60-90-day check ins with employees and people
leaders.
- Compliance: Assist Director of Human Resources with mandated
reporting filings: EEO-1, VETS-4212, 5500, ACA administration, and
mandated distributions to staff.
- Assist Director of Human Resources in administering the job
classification and pay system; participate in periodic salary
surveys and revision of job descriptions as needed.
- Employee Lifecycle: Performs routine tasks in support of
employee preboarding, onboarding, stay interviews, offboarding,
exit interviews, and total rewards; disciplinary matters; disputes
and investigations; performance and talent management;
productivity, recognition, and morale and training and
development.
- Performance Management: Provide support to the annual
performance management process to include goal setting, mid-year
check-ins, annual appraisals, and compensation planning. Help coach
People Leaders on best practices and feedback ensuring compliance
and equitable process.
- Benefit Administration: Assist with monthly invoice
reconciliation, new enrollments, and qualifying events. Help
administer and track FMLA, STD, Paid Parental Leave in accordance
with federal and state laws, and respond to requests for reasonable
accommodations.
- Conduct open enrollment including, but not limited to,
distributing materials from insurance carriers, communicating
changes to employees, and arranging onsite representation by
providers.
- Support ongoing HR development programs to provide an excellent
employee experience collaborate with the broader team to implement
company-wide events and policies to build a strong, united culture
around our mission and values.
- Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested
by management to assist in accomplishing the organization's
mission, objectives, and goals.
- Occasional travel may be required. Education, Technology
andExperience
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Human Resources working
across multiple services such as Employee Relations, Payroll,
Policies, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business Management,
Psychology, or related field desired, not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook,
PowerPoint) required.
- Preferred licenses or certifications: Must be willing to obtain
Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM Certified Professional
(SHRM-CP), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or SHRM
Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) within 18 months of
employment.
- Must have tangible experience with applicant tracking systems
(ATS) and HRIS Systems, preferably UltiPro/UKG Pro. Additional

- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and
a strong capability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of
the position.
- Ability to deal successfully with problems, problematic
situations in a confidential, courteous, and tactful manner.
- Demonstrate interpersonal awareness to effectively build and
sustain strong partnerships with trust and credibility across the
business.
- Previous experience working with a government contractor and
knowledge of OFCCP government contractor requirements will be given
additional consideration.
- The ability to think critically, analyze data, and analyze data
trends, while being proficient in HR policies and procedures, laws,
and regulations.
- Provide a high level of customer service support that is a
consistent interpretation and implementation of policies,
procedures, and company practices.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
while maintaining consistency of service. Time management
skills.
Physical Requirements
Work is sedentary and often performed in an office setting. The
work area is lighted, heated, and ventilated. The employee may
occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable

Workplace Flexibility
Clark Nexsen strives to provide a work-life balance that is desired

are Mondays and Thursdays, with a required third day that will
