General Public - G Job Duties The Western Tidewater Health District
is seeking to hire an Environmental Health Supervisor for the
Suffolk area. This Environmental Supervisor will provide direct
supervision to Environmental Health staff as well as be responsible
for all environmental programs, assign duties. It will ensure the
proper application and enforcement of the rules and regulations for
restaurants, hotels, and on-site sewage systems, rabies, private
water supplies and general environmental complaints according to
regulations and established state and local policies. The Virginia
Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental,

family/personal, and annual leave. Minimum Qualifications •
Knowledge of technical and operational aspects of environmental
health programs. • Experience providing effective supervision and
leadership of professional staff. • Experience evaluating
programmatic needs assessments, meeting quality standards for
services, and evaluation of service delivery. • Experience
identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to
develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. • Strong
communication skills, to include communicating effectively in
writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience and conveying
verbal information clearly. Additional Considerations • Experience
in the administration of public environmental health programs •
Environmental Health Specialist Senior certifications are preferred
• Environmental Health Technical Specialist certifications are
