Job Description Job Description Medical Temporaries, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Shelter Specialist. Minimum of 1 year of experience required working with the homeless/vulnerable population The first position is a FULL TIME/TEMP position requiring availability between the hours of 12AM - 8:30AM, Monday through Friday, located in Norfolk, VA. This position is a temp position working now through April 2026, may be extended. The second position is a long term temporary part-time position requiring availability every weekend from 12a to 830a Saturday and Sunday. The third position is a long term temporary full-time position requiring availability 8am to 4pm on Sat and Sun and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (off every Monday and Friday) Responsibilities: A Day in the life of a Shelter Specialist: As a Shelter Specialist you will be expected to provide direct support to the vulnerable population. Checking guests in and out, turning sites over for new occupancy, assisting in distributing supplies as needed, assisting in de-escalation, assistance in coaching and listening to guests, and working as a team with the rest of the interdisciplinary team. Requirements for the Shelter Specialist: Required: 1 year of experience working with the homeless population to include those with mental health and substance use diagnosis Required: Ability to work in indoor and outdoor work environments Required: BLS Required: Ability to work in stressful situations and work with a team Required: Ability to pass Background Check and Drug Screen Required: Must be reliable and a quick learner and have ability to multi-task with accuracy in a very busy environment Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications for the Shelter Specialist: Preferred: Previous Shelter Experience Benefits: $19.56 an hour Weekly Pay OFF WEEKENDS FOR THIS POSITION!
