Job Description:

Patient First is accepting applications for Care Advisor Nurse-Call Center in the Virginia Beach, Virginia area. Patient First provides a friendly work environment that promotes a team-oriented philosophy. The responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Helping patients with questions about their recent Patient First visit;
  • Performing comprehensive telephonic patient assessment;
  • Following established clinical protocols/guidelines and providing appropriate patient instructions according to urgency of calls;
  • Completing documentation of telephonic conversations with patients, physician offices, employers or insurance companies in the patient's medical record with precision and accuracy;
  • Translating oral information into concise and accurate written documentation using standard medical guidelines and Patient First approved abbreviations;
  • Uses, protects, and discloses patient Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with Heath Insurance Portability and Accountability act (HIPAA) standards;
  • Notifying pharmacies of new prescriptions and authorizations of refills as ordered by the physician;
  • Expediting emergency calls as needed;
  • Facilitating communication between patients and Patient First physicians;
  • Helping develop new members of the nurse call center;
  • Following all Patient First policies and procedures;
  • Occasionally working shifts at a Patient First center. Job Requirements:Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • High school graduate or equivalent;
    • Employee must be 18 years of age or older;
    • State license as a registered nurse in good standing;
    • Minimum of two years clinical experience with Patient First(preferred);
    • Utilization review and call center experience a plus;
    • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel (required);
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that requires strong oral, written and interpersonal communication, problem solving, facilitation and analytical skills (required);
