Environmental ManagerinChesapeake,VA. The core responsibility of
this role is to ensurecompliance with all federal, state and local
environmental laws and regulatory programs for the regional
assigned Perdue AgriBusiness facilities. This position provides
technical support for site facility operations personnel at all
levels of responsibility and completes environmental regulatory
reporting for multiple facilities. The position is to train site
personnel on environmental permits and programs. Environmental
permitting, reporting, sample collection of wastewater, storm
water, fresh water, and other industrial waste management
activities are key job expectations. Budget development and
management, environmental metrics collection and reporting, root
cause analysis of system upsets, and environmental program
development and training are other position responsibilities.
Practice 100% compliance objectives and safe work practices in all
things. This position is a leader and is expected to become
familiar with the day-to-day operations and to be present within
the facilities as a resource to the business functions.Principal
and Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage the environmental
compliance programs for assigned AgriBusiness facilities, providing
direction, guidance and advice to facility and operational managers
regarding environmental issues. This activity supports both
existing operations and proposed capital
expansions/improvements.Secure and maintain compliance with all
assigned facility environmental permits, plans and other required
documents from federal, state and local agencies. Present and
explain the permit requirements to the signatory responsible
officials on a regular basis.Execute and maintain policies,
procedures and environmental reporting systems to ensure compliance
with permits, plans and other regulatory obligations.Regularly
visit assigned facilities to ensure Perdue policies and procedures
are followed and to ensure compliance with environmental permits,
plans and regulations.Provide training and awareness education for
facility personnel and participate in PAB and Perdue environmental
conferences and meetings.Manage the used oil, nonhazardous and
hazardous waste recycling and disposal programs for assigned
facilities.Work closely with the Agribusiness environmental team to
develop/implement programs and initiatives to provide continuous
improvement and environmental stewardship and sustainability within
Perdue AgriBusiness operations.Minimum EducationBS Degree
(Engineering, Environmental Science or Biological Science)Minimum
10years applicable work experience in the environmental field may
be substituted for a BS DegreeExperience RequirementsBS Degree with
a minimum of5+ years of applicable environmental experience (food
industry preferred).Minimum of 10+ years of work experience in the
environmental field without a BS degree.Experience researching and
applying local, state, and federal environmental
regulations.Ability to grasp new software applications for
recordkeeping and state/federal reporting of environmental
data.Strong remote and in-person communication and organizational
skills.Understanding and ability to perform air, water, wastewater,
and solid waste environmental calculations.Visual opacity training
is preferred and the ability to attend and pass opacity training
school is a requirement.Virginia wastewater operator treatment
license.Valid driver s license.Experience Preferred10 years of
progressive experience in management and operation of environmental
and sustainability programsAbility to perform air, water,
wastewater and solid waste environmental calculationsVirginia
wastewater operator treatment license (3) preferredVirginia land
application license with minimum one-year experience in land
application of residuals preferredMinimum one year experience with
surface irrigation preferredVisual opacity certification or ability
to pass opacity training within 6 months of hireFamiliarization
with air emissions calculations, wastewater calculations,
environmental metrics reporting, waste minimization practical
skillsEnvironmental Factors and Physical Requirements1. Must be
able to fulfill responsibilities in all weather conditions and able
to walk for extended periods of time.2. Must be able to move light
equipment or supplies as needed.3. Must be willing to travel.
Possess a valid driver s license and be able to drive extended
distances.4. Work activity is primarily in an office setting but
must be able to effectively work in processing plant, hatchery and
