Job DescriptionWestminster Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is
currently hiring a Restaurant Service Manager.Our Full-Time Team
Members are eligible for Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits on
their FIRST day of employment!What will I do as a Restaurant
Service Manager?Under the guidance of the Director of Dining
Services, is responsible for the service in our 3 dining venues,
and special functions. These areas will be operated within
established objectives, standards, policies, and procedures.
Assists in the maintenance of sound interdepartmental relations and
the integration of the dining service department with the
communities plan of operation. Manages employees using the
framework of the company's Goals, mission and values.Assists in
providing food feedback to the culinary team and ensuring residents
and their guests have an enjoyable dining experience.Directly
supervises all service personnel during the meal period.Supervises
the scheduling of all dining special functions to ensure that these
functions are serviced correctly.Supervises hiring, orientating,
training, evaluating, and counseling of all service personnel in
accordance with the personnel policies of the community. Promotes
the professional growth and development of all staff.Conducts
preservices before each meal period for all service staff,
including health care service personnel, to ensure that all
departmental standards are being upheld.Circulates in all dining
areas during meal periods to field Resident/guest comments
pertaining to service and food quality. Immediately attempts to
correct problems in these areas.Maintains excellent relations with
the Clients and Residents, and close working relationships with
dining service supervisors, employees, and other community
departments.Coordinates and ensures that cash controls are in place
in all venues where cash is handled. Participates in the
predicting, planning, monitoring and evaluation of cost programs,
as assigned.Implements programs to improve service to the
Residents, guests, and staff thus enhancing the desirability of the
community to current and future Residents.What do I need for this
role?Possesses comprehensive knowledge of dining room service
techniques, Resident relations, plate presentation, sanitation,
food handling, personnel administration, special functions.If not
already ServSafe-- certified, it is expected that the Service
Manager will become certified within one year from acceptance of
this position.Ability to read, write, speak clearly and understand
English.Possess good communication skills, both oral and
written.Ability to use business math concepts.Ability to get along
well with others, to demonstrate flexibility and patience, to work
as a member of a team, and to demonstrate a high level of
sensitivity and interest in people, particularly older adults.Must
be of good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.Must
be able to cope with the emotional and physical stress of the
position.Physical RequirementsMust be a minimum of 18 years of
age.Capable of lifting 35 pounds or more.Capable of sitting for
extended periods of time, as well as standing and maneuvering
independently and safely around kitchen, office, and storage
areas.Capable of standing on concrete flooring for extended periods
of time.Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will
enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position
requirements can be fully met.Sufficient manual dexterity to
operate a fire extinguisher, manipulate kitchen equipment and
operate all office equipment.Must be able to assist in the
