LOOKING FOR: A self-driven, Principal Scientist/Engineer with a
secret clearance to join our AMERICAN SYSTEMS Maritime Lifecycle
and Readiness (MLR) Group supporting the TATE contract.
As a Principal Scientist/Engineer, You Will
- Work directly in support and execution of MLR capabilities for
TATE, including acoustic system performance evaluation.

A Week In The Life Of a Principal Scientist/Engineer
- Develop, maintain, and track design baselines through
configuration control measures.
- Strong understanding of the principles of Configuration
Management and tools to manage hardware and software
baselines.
- Develop engineering white papers to address technical
deficiencies and gaps and propose a viable technical solution.
- Perform acoustic system performance evaluation, including
tradeoff analyses and alternate design approaches involving
acoustic array technology.
- Assist in developing subsystems to current software.

Job Requirements
- A Master's of Science degree in acoustics, engineering, or
physics
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience in subsystem development
- A comprehensive understanding of silencing issues (Including
non-acoustics) as they relate to ship mission, design and operation
of ship systems, and how those issues influence modifications and
silencing improvement to present ships, and design and
specifications of future ships. Demonstrated lead authorship on
technical reports.
At Least Twelve (12) Years' Technical Experience In
- Acoustic system performance evaluation, including tradeoff
analyses and alternate design approaches involving acoustic array
technology
At Least Fifteen (15) Years Total Experience In
- Surface ship and submarine silencing. Five (5) years of which
demonstrate experience in supervision and project management of
acoustic and vibration related ship signatures tasks.
Desired
At least ten (10) years experience in:
- Accomplishing precise sound-pressure level measurements
involving signal path analysis for both active and passive systems,
analog/digital telemetry from transmission of signals on towed
array cables, and working knowledge of modern systems especially
for towed sensors.
- Experience with and knowledge of towed array self-noise
mechanisms, their causes, and how they contribute to the beam
aperture output.
