This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children but prefers a later start time and a well-organized afternoon routine. Our center operates on a structured academic morning model — all lead teachers are off by 3:30 PM — and our afternoon team ensures a smooth, calm, and professional closing each day. Duties Position Responsibilities: Provide classroom support during peak hours Cover teacher breaks and assist with transitions Supervise toddlers, preschool, and/or school-age students Combine classrooms safely while maintaining licensing ratios per Virginia standards Facilitate aftercare activities, homework time, and structured play Maintain a clean and organized environment Follow closing checklist procedures Ensure safe dismissal of children Requirements Preferred Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Strong interpersonal and communication skill Must have 1 years of previous experience working with preschool children in a group setting Background check is required Nice To Haves Dependable and punctual Strong classroom management skills Calm under pressure Team-oriented Professional and respectful with families Meets Virginia childcare requirements
