Job Description Job Description Elementary Special Education Teacher The Savannah R-III School District is seeking a certified Elementary Special Education Teacher who is passionate about supporting students with disabilities through individualized, evidence-based instruction. This position focuses on meeting the academic, social, behavioral, and functional needs of students in elementary grades (K5) while fostering growth toward independence and long-term success. The Elementary Special Education Teacher collaborates closely with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure students receive appropriate supports and services in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) . Emphasis is placed on building foundational skills, early intervention, and preparing students for successful progression through their educational experience. Essential Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs aligned to student needs, grade-level standards, and developmental goals. Provide specialized instruction in academic areas, social-emotional learning, communication, behavior, and functional skills as appropriate. Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs in both general education and special education settings. Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion, differentiation, and instructional accommodations. Implement positive behavior supports and evidence-based interventions. Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions. Maintain accurate and timely special education documentation and compliance records. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, services, and supports. Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and problem-solving discussions. Provide consultation and support to staff regarding best practices in elementary special education.
